Artist's Statement:
I can be classified as an artist/naturalist or an environmental artist.
I begin my paintings by going into the wilderness. I select a rock or
tree for its compelling texture and energy. I wrap canvas around the
rock or tree, apply paint to the canvas and, by rubbing, transfer the
image of the surface texture onto the canvas. This image provides
the sketch for my painting, which I complete in my studio. My
paintings reflect the partnership between myself and the Earth. They
are my way of cooperating with nature, amplifying its voice, and
sharing it with others.
